Is Your Body Possessed?By Sherri Cannon and Dr. Rick Morris Days from the end of his life, Remy Girard realized, “I can’t come to terms with it--if at least I’d learned something. I haven’t found a meaning. I have to keep searching.” But in fact, his time was up. Like many of us, Remy kept existing until the end, but who really possessed his life? Who was in charge? Could there have been more? When do we stop, ask these questions and act? What do people nearing the end of their lives say they would have done differently? Richard Leider (The Power of Purpose) interviewed those near death and found two recurring themes, “If I had my life to live over again I would: Reflect more and pause to understand what truly gave me fulfillment,” and “I would take more risks and be more courageous in relationships and in expressing my creativity.” Most people live without ever knowing what truly fulfills them. This kind of R&R (Reflecting and Risking) is daunting. Most of us strive for increased wealth and choices, but research indicates that they are associated with a decrease in happiness and increase in depression. So what are we really looking for? Recently, a young participant in a course I was facilitating asked what was wrong with “winging it”… making up life as you go along. A 40-something quickly responded: “Nothing. It works great until you realize that nothing truly important to you, ever gets done.” Got 15 minutes To Change Your Life? Find a timer, pen and paper and get started…
…A Note From Dr. Morris Sherri Cannon is a great friend of mine. She is a world renowned speaker and coach. As a favor to me, I asked her to read your 15-minute projects and to pick two who she would be willing to give a free coaching session. Just turn in your project and write a paragraph or two explaining why this coaching would be important to you. She offered to read everyone’s projects and to respond to all of them (write her at www.sherricannon.com). Unfortunately, I couldn’t ask her to give more than two sessions away for free. She is wonderful, I promise, and I hope that all of you take advantage of this opportunity. STOP…RIGHT NOW…do the 15-minute exercise and send it to her. IT’S YOUR FIRST STEP IN DIRECTING YOUR OWN LIFE. DO NOT DO IT LATER. DO IT NOW! The greatest purpose in my life is to relieve pain and replace it with peace and freedom and to leave making this world better because I was in it. That’s it…my life’s work. Everything I do works around this. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR PURPOSE IS?...It’s much easier to arrive when know where you are going. Do your 15-minute project and send it to Sherri. Whether your selected or not, it will help guide your life. Who’s possessing your body…make sure it’s you! Some of the words that have affected my life… If I had my life to live over again, I'd try to make more mistakes next time. I wouldn't try to be so perfect. I would relax more. I'd limber up. I'd be sillier than I've been on this trip. In fact, I know very few things that I would take so seriously. I'd be crazier. I'd be less hygienic. I'd take more chances, I'd take more trips, I'd climb more mountains, I'd swim more rivers, I'd watch more sunsets, I'd go more places I've never been to. I'd eat more ice cream and fewer beans. I'd have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary ones.
Most of the time, life does not talk to you. It just sort of pushes you around. Each push is life saying, “Wake up. There’s something I want you to learn.”
You gotta dance like nobody's watching, dream like you will live forever, live like you're going to die tomorrow and love like it's never going to hurt.
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.
